Spread Some Sonshine Group
The Spread Some Sonshine group is committed to helping
others. The group was first organized in 2001 with our primary
objective to bring a little Sonshine to the residents of Hennis
by making favors for each resident several times a year - focusing
mainly on the many holidays. In December we hold an Advent Service
at Hennis Care Centre followed by a Christmas party with lots
of goodies, Santa Claus and Christmas carols by St. Paul's choir.
During the last 6 years we have taken on more responsibility
and presently we fund, prepare and serve food for Vacation Bible
School and the After School Program. Our biggest project is a
Christmas Give-A-Way, furnishing toys for approximately 200 youngsters
ranging in age from infants to 18 years of age. Smaller projects
include donating much needed new clothing to the three elementary
schools, donating small gifts to the ladies and children at Harbor
House, purchasing tickets for our youth group to attend a baseball
game, donating food, flowers, or monetary gifts to members of
our congregation.
To fund our many projects, we work at the Aultman
Family Fair and the Safety Break on I-77. We prepare and serve
at least two free-will offering brunches during the year for
the congregation. The Sonshine Group also sponsors a rummage
sale.
It is not all work. Several times each year we enjoy
a day out for lunch and shopping or touring an area or place
of interest.
The ladies meet on the second Tuesday of the month
and extend a warm welcome to anyone who wishes to join.
